And another certificate for UK--

Ann completed the 2006 University of Kentucky College of Fine Arts Distinguished Alumnus Award just in time to deliver it to Lexington; same weekend that our niece got married in the Catskills. So I drove east, she drove west. This year's recipient was Gregory Turay, a young operatic tenor (in his early 30s), who went to Lexington to play baseball. He's gone on to sing internationally, notably creating the role of Rudolfo in William Balcom's adapation of Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge. We heard him on the Metropolitan Opera Broadcast of Il Trovatore (in a relatively minor supporting role) while Ann was planning the award: as is clear in the picture, it's large, with his name superimposed on a background of paste paper which has his major roles written on it.

She also built a case for the certificate, which was presented on May 7th. And here she is with Turay, shortly after he received the honor.
